New growth
March brings the graceful and ever amazing orchid. Mine blooms every March in my studio and is a perfect subject for Kraft paper which enhances the whites and greens. I live near the Hillwood Estate Gardens which features a greenhouse filled with exotic species of orchids which I photograph but long to take home to draw each time I visit. Drawing from a photo never works for me.
The orange blossoms (as well as their summer fruit) are both drawings inspired by a Draw Botanical workshop and the Fig branch came out of a Draw Botanical Retreat at the Garden of Lemons in Granada, Spain.

Flowers
Spring flowers bring a welcome burst of color to my drawings and that beautiful spring green of leaves and stems. Below are four drawings — a Snapdragon and Tulip (from Wollam Gardens) and a Siberian Iris and a Daffodil (from our community garden).
